Protecting the privacy of consumers and our creditor partners
Information controls, compliance, and data security are an integral part of our business. We implement stringent processes to ensure a safe and secure environment for data transfers, communications, payments, and private information. We comply with all pertinent industry regulations and client parameters to effectively manage accounts and provide superior results that benefit our clients. We always go above and beyond what is required and are proud to be a RMAI Certified Debt Buyer.
Foundation of Compliance
Our deep knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements stems from the extensive experience of our executive leadership. Having engrained state of the art technology and processes into every part of daily operations, Unifund maintains an unwavering focus on privacy, security, and compliance. We house our data in secure storage with limited employee access and always transfer data using very little manual intervention and secure ftp file transfer protocols. All members of our compliance team are Credit and Collection Compliance Officer’s (CCCO) certified through ACA International.
Policy & Procedure
Unifund maintains a very strict adherence to stringent policies and procedures to ensure the privacy and protection of data. Our internal programs keep our processes and employees up to date and in compliance:
- Policy program – creation, approval, deployment, maintenance, and communication
- Training program – creation and deployment of professional development and training to support regulations, policies, and supporting procedures
- Monitoring program – both continuous and formal audits of internal entities and all third-parties engaged by Unifund
Our team complies with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), all state and local laws, and regulations covering our industry. We constantly review policies, procedures, and practices to ensure we are up to date and that we treat consumers with respect in all of our interactions.
Data Security
Data is an important asset that requires protective digital privacy measures. We invest heavily in the implementation of technology, processes, and procedures that prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information. Our PCI compliance assures consumers that we safely and securely accept, store, process, and transmit credit card data while our SOC I Type II certification affirms our compliance with internal controls related to financial reporting.
